The jumps racing season is now heading quickly towards the Cheltenham Festival and the next step on that road has been taken today with the entries for the four novice hurdle races being released.
The Supreme Novices' Hurdle is the race that will take the majority of the attention with 98 entries for the opening race of the Prestbury Park spectacular.
Nicky Henderson appears to have a strong hand for the race once again this season with ante-post favourites Angels Breath and Mister Fisher the leading names on the entry list. In total, there are 57 entries for the Supreme from Ireland with horses like Vision D'honneur and Felix Desjy among the leading contenders from the Emerald Isle.
Elsewhere, there are 139 entries for the Ballymore Novices' Hurdle and 107 for the Albert Bartlett with the Festival now less than six weeks away.
The Triumph Hurdle entry list has also been released today with 59 potential runners at this stage and 33 from Ireland. Fakir D'Oudairies is perhaps the headline name and one of the key tips for Cheltenham according to plenty of experts are his win on Trial Day recently.
The Joseph O'Brien trained juvenile could be joined in the Triumph by stablemate Sir Erec and the Willie Mullins trained Tiger Tap Tap who have both also impressed over in Ireland this winter.
Paul Nicholls also looks to have a real chance in the big juvenile contest this season with Grade 1 winner Quel Destin one of the more prominent entries. The Ditcheat star impressed in winning the Finale at Chepstow before Christmas and could be the leading hope for the race on the final day of the Festioval for the home team.
