Throughout the world there is top class racing and whether you head over to Dubai or the United States of America they all provide some of the most competitive, first rate action in the equine calendar and often horses will travel from all over the globe to try and win the coveted titles.

Churchill Downs is arguably the most famous international venue and towards the end of the year the crème de la crème of the flat world make the pilgrimage to the American track and take part in the Breeders’ Cup festival. It offers two days of 14 Championship races to enjoy on both the turf and the dirt with trainers sending their horses over from the UK & Ireland, as well as from a plethora of other countries.

Day Two of the meeting is certainly the biggest night of racing in the international flat horse racing calendar, with the Breeders’ Cup Classic being the most valuable event, but there are a multitude of Grade One events with the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, Breeders’ Cup Turf and Breeders’ Cup Mile just a triumvirate of the leading races on the card.

The United States has always had a strong affiliation with flat racing and the ultimate achievement in the sport is the Triple Crown and any horse that can bag victory in the Kentucky Derby, Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes will be classed as a true racing great.

Dubai is another place that is synonymous with high quality action on the level and they play host to the world’s richest race, as the Dubai World Cup will see trainers from all over the world hand their horses the task of landing the prize that is worth around $10m. It takes place at the end of the Dubai carnival and horses trained in the UK & Ireland have managed to bag the prize, whilst various European horses have been victorious with local horses also starring in an event that attracts every racing fan.

Australia is another country that ranks highly on the racing spectrum and the highlight on their racing calendar is the Melbourne Cup, which is another event that can often see horses from other continents making the trip over to try and grab the prize. Taking place at Flemington, they often label the contest as a “race that stops a nation” and the spectacle is certainly glittering as a competitive field go to post for the 2m start. Horses from all over the world have actually managed to prise away the coveted title from the Australians, with Europeans and Americans having a fine record in the race.

Back in Europe, France is another country that has become renowned for producing top equine talent and they are often seen making the short trip over to the UK to try and contest things like the Epsom Derby and the 2000 Guineas. However, they offer the biggest race in Europe with the Arc de Triomphe attracting horses from all over the continent in what is a spectacular contest at Longchamp.

So, any trainer with a top quality horse has so many options available around the world and some horses have been known to embark on globetrotting schedules to try and lift some of the biggest races in the world and become one of the world’s greatest horses.
